Did you Build an Insurance Website, but Nobody Came?

Have you spent a lot of time developing an insurance website? Have you also spent a lot of money on this project? Lots of agents are aware of the power of the internet, and they have decided they want a piece of the booming business or working online. However, even though they have taken the time, and money, to build a website, they find that their projects are not really workig out. They complain that it is impossible to attract new business online.

But is this really true? I think that the main problem with most online insurance sites is that they are not really competing for the traffic they need to prosper. You need to be able to attract potential clients who are looking for the products you have to sell, and then you can convince them they want to buy from you!

Insurance websites can be a great source of sales leads, new clients, and more business!

You need to do some more work if you want to attract visitors. You need to establish yourself online by being listed on other websites. Some directory listings can be very helpful!

  • Local Business Directories - It is pretty easy to have your agency listed in local business directories. You can search for these on a major search engines. Yahoo Local is another example that really does bring in customers for many different types of businesses.
  • Industry Directories - Find directories of agents ad financial professionals. This website, Find Insurance, is one example. Here is another free insurance company and agency directory.
  • Find related local websites. You may be able to get lised in the resources section of related websites. If you sell homeowners insurance, a local realtor may be willing to list your services. You can email the website owners or make contact with business owners at networking events.

Many agents say they are too busy to bother with this. But I have found that attracting internet business reduces the workload of using other, old fashioned methods, of bringing in business.
